About Us
Protecting and celebrating the architectural and historical heritage of Alamance County, NC and the surrounding area.
Through preservation, education, and involvement, Preservation Alamance seeks to protect and celebrate the architectural and historical heritage of Alamance County and the surrounding area. Historical preservation and adaptive re-use contributes to stronger, safer neighborhoods, economic development, aesthetic beauty, and community pride. By fostering within the community an appreciation of our historic properties, we aim to promote interest in, and good stewardship of our local historical treasures.

Our Story
Preservation Alamance was created in October 2016 from a shared concern about the demolition of local historic properties. We believe that preservation of our local historic homes and buildings contributes to sustainability, community connection and pride, and a sense of place. The funds we raise and receive allow us to provide support and resources to preserve our local historic treasures.
PRESERVE.
We promote the preservation of historic structures by supporting property owners through the Historic Homeowner Grant Program. We act as a local clearing house for information and contacts to help aid their restoration efforts. In the future, we hope to establish a revolving fund to secure and preserve historic buildings.
We educate the public about what historic preservation is, why it matters, and how it can enrich the entire community. We offer resources for the care and maintenance of historic properties, and promote interest in preservation through workshops, tours and other events.
EDUCATE.
INVOLVE.
We advocate for preservation initiatives by encouraging projects that balance the need for development and growth with the desire to retain our historic resources and by raising awareness to critical local preservation issues.
